Flu and cold treatment at home in Dubai

Cough, blocked sinuses, sore throat and body aches assessed and treated by a DHA-licensed doctor at your home or hotel, from AED 199, without sitting in a clinic while you are contagious.

Dubai's flu season runs roughly from October to March, and air-conditioned offices, schools and flights spread colds all year round. Most cases are viral and get better on their own, but a doctor's visit is worth it when symptoms are severe, when you have asthma, diabetes or are pregnant, when a cold turns into a sinus or chest infection, or simply when you need a sick-leave certificate.

Staying home is also the responsible option: a home visit keeps you out of a crowded waiting room while you are most contagious. The doctor examines your throat, ears, sinuses and chest, checks oxygen saturation and decides whether you need symptomatic treatment only, an antibiotic for a secondary bacterial infection, or a chest X-ray.

When to book

  • Flu-like illness with high fever, aches and exhaustion
  • A cold that has lasted more than 10 days or is getting worse
  • Sinus pain, facial pressure or coloured discharge
  • Persistent cough, wheeze or a history of asthma
  • You need a medical certificate for work or school

What the clinician does at home

  • Examination of throat, ears, sinuses and lungs, with temperature and oxygen saturation
  • Rapid influenza, strep or COVID-19 test when it changes management
  • Treatment for cough, congestion, sore throat and fever, and an antibiotic only if there is a bacterial infection
  • Printed prescription, sick-leave certificate if needed, and advice on isolation and hydration
  • Follow-up check-in within 7 days and referral if symptoms persist
Call 999 or go to an emergency department if
  • Shortness of breath at rest, breathing fast or blue lips
  • Chest pain or coughing up blood
  • Confusion, severe drowsiness or fainting
  • Fever above 40 °C not responding to medication
  • Symptoms of dehydration with inability to keep fluids down
